Tottenham Premier League record

Tottenham continue to impress under manager Ange Postecoglou, following another huge win over Luton Town. Spurs were forced to comeback from one-goal down to earn victory, with an Issa Kabore own goal bringing them level before Heung-Min Son‘s late strike won the game.

The equaliser in the second half helped the Lilywhites set a league-leading record for scoring. According to Sky Sports, the goal was Tottenham’s 15th inside the first 15 minutes of the second half this season, showing how well they start after the break.

Ange Postecoglou explains tactical tweak

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has explained a key tactical change he made in the win over Luton Town. The manager decided to bring Dejan Kulusevski off at half-time in favour of Brennan Johnson, who contributed to both Spurs goals in the second half.

Explaining that decision, Postecoglou told the press, via Football London: “We felt that in the first half Deki [Kulusevski] was probably coming inside a little bit too much and we felt that Timo [Werner] was certainly getting some opportunities down the left-hand side and if we got Brennan [Johnson] on the right-hand side that he could equally be a threat. I thought both wingers in the second half were outstanding.”

Brennan Johnson season target

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has set a target for Brennan Johnson to follow for the rest of the season. The winger has impressed in his debut season, following his £47.5million transfer from Nottingham Forest last summer, scoring four times and assisting seven in the Premier League this season.

After Johnson’s goal contributions against Luton, Postecoglou said: “I thought Brennan was excellent today. We felt at half-time bring him one with him and Timo really wide we could stretch him. I thought both wingers were outstanding in the second half.

“It was great for Brennan. He’s made quite a few impacts now off the bench. The challenge for him is to maintain that consistency. We know what a good player he can be and try to make an impact whenever he plays.”
