Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro has now statistically been as good as Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.

It has been an impressive campaign for a number of Tottenham players this season, Pedro Porro being one of those.

The Spanish right-back has become a regular under Ange Postecoglou and it is apparent he has taken well to the Australian’s style of play.

Pedro Porro under Postecoglou

Spurs brought in the 24-year-old last January under the management of Antonio Conte who played with a wing-back system.

So the arrival of Postecoglou certainly will have raised a few eye brows as to how the likes of Porro would have adjusted to the new system.

But it seems the right-back has had no issues in adapting to Postecoglou’s philosophy and has already provided eight assists in the league this term.

Such performances has seen the Spaniard awarded a 7.18 rating for the season by WhoScored.

No other full-back has a better rating than the Spaniard with Alexander-Arnold and Kieran Trippier able to match.

Pedro Porro injury news

Spurs got back to winning ways last weekend with a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace, however, they had to do so without their Spaniard.

Porro has now been sidelined for a number of weeks after sustaining a muscular injury.

He was absent from the defeat against Wolves and then again last weekend.

Speaking prior to the game against Oliver Glasner’s side, Postecoglou said that Porro could need another week to get himself back to action.

Now just days out from the game against Aston Villa, there has still be no indication of a potential return for the 24-year-old.

Of course, it is a huge game coming up against Tottenham’s top four rivals, so the club will likely be hoping to keep tight-lipped on the injury front.

But Porro isn’t the only injury concern with Richarlison also missing last weekend through a knee issue.

Unlike Porro, the Brazilian has been a lot more outspoken about his possible return ahead of the weekend.
