Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has been awarded the Goalkeeper of the Year at the London Football Awards.

Guglielmo Vicario and Ange Postecoglou were both recognised on the night with the Australian named Manager of the Year.

After being handed the trophy, the Italian took to social media to aim a hilarious taunt at Tottenham’s north London rivals.

Vicario aims jibe at Arsenal

The 27-year-old only joined in the summer, but he has taken no time at all to settle in to life at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And he could well be becoming a fans favourite after the comments he made following being presented the award.

Vicario posted an image on Instagram with him and his family holding the award.

However, the background was lit with red lighting and he took that opportunity to take aim at Arsenal with a reply.

He said: ‘I should have asked to turn off that red light’.

Impressive recruitment at Spurs

Over the years, there have been some fairly horrendous purchases sanctioned at Hotspur Way.

The one which immediately springs to mind is Tanguy Ndombele with the club breaking their transfer record to bring in the Frenchman.

But those days seem to be behind the club.

The likes of Vicario and Micky van de Ven have provided a lot of optimism that Spurs are capable of bringing in exciting talents.

Although neither have come from small leagues, neither were expected to have made the impact which they have so far.

And the recruitment of even younger players appears to have changed with Spurs beating some huge clubs to the signing of Lucas Bergvall.

There may still be some scepticism over the signing of Brennan Johnson, but it remains early days in his time at Spurs.
