One former Tottenham Hotspur player is receiving plenty of love at his current club.

This summer, Spurs made some really good attacking signings after bringing in Xavi Simons, Mohammed Kudus and Randal Kolo Muani.

Not all of Tottenham’s attacking signings in recent transfer windows have worked out, though.

Timo Werner, for example, really struggled during his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and has since returned to RB Leipzig.

RB Leipzig fans demanded for Timo Werner to be brought on in Koln win

Following an unsuccessful loan spell with Tottenham last season, Werner is back at Leipzig.

The German club were able to beat Koln 3-1 in the Bundesliga on Saturday, but the forward did not make an appearance.

However, Leipzig fans were keen to see the man who has scored more than 100 goals for them get onto the pitch.

As per RBLive, Werner’s name was chanted during the warm-up before supporters demanded for the player to be brought on.

In the end, Leipzig manager Ole Werner denied their request, leaving Werner on the bench for the entire match.

The 29-year-old is yet to play a game for Leipzig this season, being left out of their squad for the first three gameweeks.

Timo Werner’s underwhelming Tottenham record

Werner had two loan spells in north London; his first one was not a complete disaster. In 13 Premier League appearances, the Germany international managed to score two goals and register a few assists.

The following season, however, Werner could not find the back of the net once in the English top flight.

Ultimately, the Europa League winners made the right call sending Werner back to Leipzig instead of signing him permanently.

Being a goal machine during his first stint at Leipzig, Werner is capable of finding the back of the net with confidence and form. For whatever reason, though, things just did not work out for him during his time in England as he struggled at both Spurs and Chelsea.
