Tottenham Hotspur will be sweating over the fitness of Guglielmo Vicario after the goalkeeper suffered an ankle injury against Manchester City.
Vicario became the first Premier League goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet against City this season as Spurs sent shock waves around the Premier League after defeating the English champions 4-0.
The North London club emphatically ended City’s 52-game unbeaten run at the Etihad Stadium as Ange Postecoglou’s team once again got the better of Pep Guardiola.
But it does not appear to be all good news for the North London club with Vicario and Destiny Udogie suffering injuries.

Guglielmo Vicario limps through mix zone
Guglielmo Vicario was spotted limping through the mixed zone after the 4-0 win over Man City by the Athletic’s Spurs journalist, Jay Harris. The 28-year-old suffered a heavy blow to his ankle in the second half although he managed to continue despite looking in some discomfort.
Vicario earned top reviews from the media as he produced quite possibly his best-ever performance in a Spurs shirt against Pep Guardiola’s side. The keeper made five saves against City as he kept Erling Haaland and co at bay at the Etihad.
Losing the Italian international to injury would be a major blow for Postecoglou whose backup option is Fraser Forster. The 37-year-old has put in some questionable performances when called upon by the Australian manager and has proven to be a significant downgrade on Vicario.
Destiny Udogie’s hamstring concern
Spurs will also be sweating over the fitness of Destiny Udogie who was forced off with a hamstring injury in the 4-0 win. The left-back was clutching his hamstring in the latter stages of the game and had to be replaced by Djed Spence.
Tottenham have had plenty of hamstring issues this season with Richarlison and Wilson Odobert currently sidelined and Heung-min Son having also struggled with an injury. There has previously been question marks over Postecoglou’s methods leading to players picking up these hamstring troubles.
