Daniel Levy continues to divide opinion amongst the Tottenham Hotspur fanbase.
The Spurs chairman’s commitment to improving the infrastructure at Tottenham has certainly paid dividends during his 22-year reign.
During his tenure, Tottenham have become a financial powerhouse after improvements at Hotspur Way as well as the opening of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2019.
For all the improvements off the pitch, a lack of on-pitch success continues to frustrate Spurs fans though.
Daniel Levy is also a chairman who supporters rarely hear from, with the 62-year-old often reluctant to speak to the media.
But in what was a surprising turn of events on Wednesday, Levy issued a statement to a Turkish media outlet as he labelled rumours linking Heung-min Son to Fenerbahce a ‘complete lie’.

Tottenham fans react to Levy statement
Given the fact that Levy rarely speaks to the media, let alone comments on transfer rumours, his statement on Son took many fans on social media by surprise.
One fan put Levy’s comments down to former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho, who has recently been named Fenerbahce boss.
Another supporter questioned how the media outlet managed to ‘get access’ to the Tottenham chairman.
“There’s no way Daniel Levy spoke to the media,” one fan said.
Another wrote: “First time I’ve seen Levy actually speak up about something.”
A supporter also questioned: “Since when does Levy make a statement?”

Levy’s surprise Son statement
It is interesting that Levy has seemingly moved to squash talk of Son reuniting with Mourinho at Fenerbahce.
The Spurs chairman rarely issues statements to the media and certainly doesn’t get involved with transfer rumours.
But with Son heading into the final year of his contract at Spurs, it was possibly an ideal time for Levy to speak out ahead of what looks set to be a busy summer transfer window. Tottenham are also planning to take up an option to extend their captain’s contract by a further year.
