Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to get their Europa League campaign under way with a home meeting against Qarabag FK.

Tottenham have steadied the ship following a mixed start to the season thanks to victories over Coventry City and Brentford last week.

Now, Ange Postecoglou’s charges will look to continue on their good as they welcome the champions of Azerbaijan to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Spurs boss is likely to shuffle his pack for the game, with a view to Sunday’s Premier League trip to Manchester United.

Now, some Tottenham fans believe Spurs academy stats Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear will be in the squad for the game after spotting an intriguing hint on Tuesday night.

Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear not in latest Tottenham Under-21s squad

The hint in question relates to the team news prior to Tottenham Under-21s’s EFL Trophy encounter with Exeter City.

Moore and Lankshear both started their side’s first EFL Trophy meeting, the draw at Bristol Rovers, but neither was in the squad for the Grecians clash.

Under-21s omissions suggest that the players not involved could be involved in first-team action a few days later.

With that in mind, some Tottenham fans reckon that Moore and Lankshear – both of whom have been in the first-team picture this season – could now feature against Qarabag.

Perfect opportunity for Tottenham youngsters to shine

Spurs are still competing on four fronts this season after making it to the fourth round of the League Cup and, as such, squad management is key.

While Tottenham will be eager to go far in the Europa League, the game presents a good opportunity for fringe players and academy stars to stake a claim for regular Premier League action.

Moore and Lankshear impressed during pre-season, so much so that Postecoglou opted not to send either player out on loan, instead keeping them in the first-team picture.

With that in mind, Qarabag is just the kind of game that should see both youngsters get game time off the bench at the very least.
