Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jamie Donley has picked up a hamstring injury and is expected to return to action in early February.

The 19-year-old missed out on the Tottenham squad on Friday as Ange Postecoglou’s men crashed out of the FA Cup.

Donley had been named in all of the previous 10 Premier League matchday squads, racking up two appearances in the process.

While Donley is yet to establish himself in Postecoglou’s side, it was a slight surprise to see him miss out on Friday’s fourth-round clash.

The Spurs youngster has been a regular in the Aussie’s squad of late, particularly in the absence of several key players in midfield.

But Football.London claims that Donley has picked up a minor ‘issue’ with his hamstring, which ultimately kept him out of the clash against City.

Football.London reports that despite picking up a hamstring injury, Donley should be available once again next week.

The Spurs academy product made his debut at Manchester City in early December and has since been handed minutes against Newcastle United and Burnley.

Donley has been lauded as a ‘brilliant’ talent after an impressive start to the campaign for Tottenham’s Under-21s side.

The talented forward has netted six goals and provided 12 assists in just 12 games for Tottenham’s academy sides this term.

Tottenham have been unfortunate when it comes to injuries this season, with a host of key players picking up hamstring injuries at various points.

Donley has become the latest to suffer the same fate. But fortunately for Spurs and Donley, he should be back in action within a couple of weeks.

The youngster is set to nail down a place in Postecoglou’s side but you’d like to think a real opportunity isn’t too far around the corner.

Postecoglou has placed plenty of faith in younger players this term and Donley looks set for a bright future under the Aussie boss.
