Toby Alderweireld has made his frustrations clear towards Tottenham centre-back Micky van de Ven.
The Netherlands international has been a first-team regular at Spurs since moving to North London back in 2023.
However, van de Ven has made headlines for all the wrong reasons this season and has lost a section of the fanbase.

Alderweireld does not think that the morale at Spurs is right currently, and blames van de Ven for being a part of the problem as well.
While the Belgian has praised the Dutchman for being an important player, he wants to see more from him.
He doesn’t just want his former side to sign better players, but he wants the current players to fight for each other and make each other better.
However, he feels some of their key players, like van de Ven, are not able to do that.
Alderweireld said on TikTok: “Spurs aren’t signing proven players. You can’t just buy players with potential—you really need established quality to form a solid base and ensure the team doesn’t drop below a certain level, or at least not often. And they’re not doing that enough.
“Top-quality, ready-made players cost money, they also demand high wages. If you’re not willing to pay that, then you know this kind of situation can happen. And when everyone starts focusing only on themselves, it becomes very difficult.
“How do you get out of a situation like that? Only as a team. By fighting for each other, creating a ‘Over my dead body’ mentality. And that’s something I’m missing.
“And to be fair, even Micky van de Ven is part of that. He’s not making the players around him better.
“Because one key trait of a truly great player is that he improves those around him, not just his own game. And that’s what Spurs are lacking right now.”

Will van de Ven leave Tottenham?
For the first time since joining Spurs, the Netherlands international’s future looks uncertain.
Van de Ven’s conduct has been criticised and if Tottenham get relegated, he may want to leave at the end of the season.
A lot hinges on Roberto De Zerbi’s handling of the entire situation as well.
He will spend several weeks with the Dutchman behind the scenes and will get a better gauge of his attitude and see if he can live up to the high standards that will be set.
As things stand, he would be open to an exit, but it would hinge on a lot of factors.
