Tim Sherwood has backed Tottenham Hotspur to finish above their North London rivals Arsenal in the Premier League this season.

Sherwood has been speaking on the No Nippy Tappy Football Podcast and shared his prediction for who’ll finish higher this season – Tottenham or Arsenal.

Spurs have surprised many already this season as they currently sit two points clear at the top of the Premier League after 10 games played.

Ange Postecoglou is yet to taste defeat in the league since making the switch from Celtic over the summer.

The Aussie boss has already had a taste of the North London Derby too as he guided Tottenham to a well-earned 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium in September.

Arsenal were by far the superior side last season as they challenged Manchester City for the Premier League table. But Spurs have quickly closed the gap under Postecoglou and look set to battle it out with their bitter rivals this season.

And Tim Sherwood believes his former side will finish above Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Sherwood backs Tottenham to finish above Arsenal

Speaking on No Tippy Tappy Football, Sherwood was asked: “Who finishes higher this season? Spurs or Arsenal?”

“You know what answer I have to give – Spurs,” he responded. “If they finish higher than Arsenal they will be second, Man City win it.”

Not many would have guessed that Spurs would be top of the table come November after such a tumultuous campaign last time out.

But Postecoglou has transformed Tottenham into one of the best sides in the league during the early stages of the season.

Of course, it’s still early days and there are tougher tests to come for Postecoglou’s men.

Arsenal finished above Tottenham last season for the first time since the 2015/16 campaign.

But the early signs certainly indicate that it will be much closer this time around and that’s a testament to the work Postecoglou as done at Spurs.
