Tim Sherwood has delivered a verdict on Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick joining Tottenham at the end of the season.
Carrick was linked with Tottenham before he ended up joining United until the end of the season to replace Ruben Amorim.
He has done a good job at Old Trafford, taking his side to third place and putting them on course to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Tim Sherwood hopes Tottenham hire Michael Carrick
Sherwood does not think it is a foregone conclusion for Carrick to join Manchester United permanently, even if they offer him the job.
The former Tottenham manager admits that he would first have to talk things out with his family to assess what the best option for him is in the long run.
That said, he admits that if United offer Carrick the job, he would most probably accept it and become the next permanent head coach going into the 2026/27 season.

On the off chance that he does not stay on at Old Trafford, Sherwood wants Spurs to make a move for him and bring him to North London.
He said on No Tippy Tappy Football: “I think he’ll still think he will have to sit down with his family and whoever he listens to and still have a conversation about, is this the right job for me long term.
“I don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion if they offer it to him, he takes it. I think he will, but I just think he will be measured in that decision, even.
“And if they don’t take him, which I hope they don’t, I hope Tottenham do.”

What Carrick can bring to Spurs next season
Carrick has prioritised strengthening defences, as that is what he focused on at Middlesbrough and there was a stark improvement in United off the ball when he replaced Amorim.
So, Spurs will be more organised without the ball and that would see them conceding fewer goals, making the most of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, if they are still at the club.
The Englishman likes to line up with a 4-2-3-1, emphasising one central midfielder controlling the tempo and the number 10 given a free role.
A new central midfielder could be signed to placate his demands, while the likes of Xavi Simmons, Dejan Kulusevski, and James Maddison will thrive as they’re all extremely creative players.
