Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank could say goodbye to quite a few of his players next year, including Rodrigo Bentancur.

Bentancur‘s contract will be up in 2026, while Randal Kolo Muani and Joao Palhinha’s loans finish at the end of the season.

The midfielder has played in all three of SpursPremier League games so far. Palhinha has also appeared in all three.

Kolo Muani is still waiting to make his debut for the club after arriving on deadline day.

Thomas Frank ‘really likes’ Rodrigo Bentancur

In an ideal world, it looks like Frank would keep hold of Bentancur, who is now in his fifth season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In a recent Q&A, journalist Alasdair Gold revealed that Frank “really likes” Bentancur, so the Dane will not want to see him run down his contract.

Replying to a question about contracts on football.london, Gold said: “I think Rodrigo Bentancur is the obvious one and Thomas Frank really likes the Uruguayan so hopefully that will get done before it gets a bit nervy.

“A decision will have to be made over Richarlison if he can keep fit for the bulk of this season and then I would imagine it’s about rewarding those who have impressed since arriving like Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski.”

Since joining Tottenham from Juventus in 2022, Bentancur has picked up some injuries. However, the Uruguayan is fully fit again and remains a good option for Spurs.

The Europa League winners, then, will want him to put pen to paper on a new deal.

Update on Rodrigo Bentancur’s contract situation

The good news for Frank and Tottenham supporters is that there are still months before Bentancur’s existing deal expires, while there is also a chance that he puts pen to paper on a new one.

According to TBR Football, Spurs’ CEO Vinai Venkatesham is currently working on Bentancur’s new contract in a boost to Frank.

Since arriving at Spurs, the Uruguayan has made 117 appearances for the club, and it would be much more had it not been for injuries. Across those games, he has has scored nine times.

While Frank will not want to lose Bentancur, one midfielder who now looks disposable is Yves Bissouma. The 29-year-old has not played a game for Spurs this season and has been linked with a move to Turkey, whose transfer window closes on Friday night.
