A number of Tottenham Hotspur players are currently on international duty and several have already taken part in their first games of the round.

For instance, Spurs duo Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall both played for Sweden in their Nations League trip to Azerbaijan on Thursday evening.

Kulusevski started the game and captained his nation as they ran out 3-1 winners in Baku, while Bergvall came off the bench in the second half.

Several Swedish media outlets gave their verdicts on both Tottenham players in their post-match ratings articles.

Mixed reaction for Tottenham duo Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall

Fotballskanalen said of Kulusevski: “Good work performance by captain who led his team. But didn’t threaten as much as we are used to seeing him do.

“Put Gyokeres in a good position before the 1-0 goal.”

Meanwhile, Svenska Fans gave the Tottenham utility man a 2 out of 5 rating and wrote: “Team captain and took a nice amount of responsibility.

“Maybe not as exuberant in the offensive phase as you can sometimes see him, but involved in a lot of things.”

As for Bergvall, Fotballskanalen said: “Tried to deal with the ball and be fearless. Failed at everything. Didn’t accomplish much.”

Meanwhile, Svenska Fans gave the Spurs gem a 2 out of 5 rating and wrote: “Wanted to do a lot but didn’t have time to get everything out. Alert.”

What next for Kulusevski and Bergvall?

All in all, a decent outing for both Tottenham players as they helped their nation to a routine win on the road.

Sweden’s victory sees them top the Nations League C Group 1 table, with Slovakia second following their 1-0 win over Estonia.

Up next for Kulusevski and Bergvall is Sunday’s Nations League meeting with Estonia at Stockholm’s Friends Arena.

That will bring Sweden’s September international break to an end, which means both players should hopefully be back earlier at Hotspur Way than some of their peers.
