Sweden have booked their ticket to next summer’s World Cup following a dramatic late win over Poland in which Viktor Gyokeres netted an 88th-minute winner.

Bergvall has struggled with injuries this season, but he is now getting back to his best and could also play a key part in helping Spurs’ survival bid.
Swedish media were so impressed by Lucas Bergvall vs Poland
Swedish media were so impressed by Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall’s performance in their 3-2 win over Poland.
Despite only being on the pitch for 21 minutes, the Spurs star made a big impact and was decisive in Gyokeres’ winning goal.
The 20-year-old came close to forcing the ball home himself with an outside-the-boot effort, which forced Kamil Grabara into making a big save, but the Arsenal striker eventually turned the ball home following a scramble.
The youngster managed 17 touches, completed six defensive actions and won three of his five duels against Poland.
Following the win, the Swedish media hailed his impact in helping Graham Potter’s side reach the 2026 World Cup in North America.
🤔 Can Roberto De Zerbi keep Spurs in the Premier League with this line up?
Fotbollskanalen were full of praise for him and rated his display 4/5: “Extremely strong run-in and dominated. Was involved in the decisive goal.”
Meanwhile, Expressen gave him a 3/3 rating: “Came in with energy and immediately got the arena cheering after a nice break.
“Fought and struggled, sometimes wanted a little too much, but what in the world does that do? Highly contributing to Sweden playing the World Cup this summer.”
Svenska Fans: “Got a yellow card. What a tackle he made. Was everywhere both offensively and defensively. Kept the ball and cleared it away, time and time again.”
Roberto De Zerbi could unlock Lucas Bergvall’s potential at Tottenham
The newly appointed Roberto De Zerbi could help to unlock Bergvall’s potential at Tottenham in the final seven Premier League games.
De Zerbi has promised to play attacking football at Spurs, which means that the midfielder should be at the heart of his plans.
Hopefully, playing in a more progressive system under the Italian head coach, the youngster should flourish and could be a key player for Spurs.
Bergvall could play in a double pivot alongside Archie Gray, with the young Tottenham duo likely to play a key role in the final seven matches.
