Son Heung-min has high praise for Richarlison – which is very fitting with the Brazilian struggling with mental health issues at the moment.

Richarlison has had a really tough time since he made his move to Tottenham Hotspur. The Brazilian struggled drastically in his first year at the club and became a big Premier League laughingstock due to his inability to find the back of the net.

However, a new manager has brought new horizons for the forward. Ange Posteoglou‘s arrival has seemed to greatly influence Richarlison, who has been putting in better performances and even bagged a crucial equalising goal against Sheffield on Saturday.

No one was happier for him than fellow forward Son Heung-min.

Speaking with media following the fixture, Son spoke about just how integral Richarlison was in the win against Sheffield and ultimately how happy he was for his good friend.

“This is part of family,” Son said. “We always want to have a good time when we play with each other. Richi obviously had a very tough time, a tough season. But I was very, very happy. I was probably more happy than him.

“We need him as a team, he has really good quality but the confidence is massively different. For Richy today I just wanted to give him the big hug he deserved. He really showed his quality.”

The South Korean then went on to speak about how the Brazilian forward has been going through a lot later, with this weekend a clear spearhead into drastically changing his mindset going forward.

“Richy is a really strong guy, a good character and can always bounce back strong. But when you have a tough time you need good people around you.

“I always try to be a friend to him and if he needs anything then I can help him from my experience or my playing also. I think everyone is standing behind him helping. Today he did an amazing job for this club.”

The environment at Spurs currently is sublime. The squad are all looking out for each other and, for the first time in a long time, it feels really great to be a Tottenham fan.
