Tottenham Hotspur loanee Alfie Devine has been earning some big praise from the Plymouth Argyle fans following his display on Wednesday night.

The Pilgrims ended up drawing the game 2-2, but the Spurs youngsters Devine and Ashley Phillips both played big roles in the clash.

A lot of positives are coming from the loan deals we have agreed for some of our players this season and this is a promising start to life on the south coast for the midfielder.

Plymouth have now gone a few of games without a win, however, this has not deterred their fans from piling the praise on the Spurs youngsters.

Only last week, they were sharing their delight with the performance of centre-back Ashley Phillips in their defeat against Leeds United in the FA Cup.

And now it seems it is the turn of Devine to feel the love from the fans after his 90 minute display against the high-flying Coventry.

Ange Postecoglou will surely have a keen eye on the development of the young Englishman this season following his rise from League One with a loan at Port Vale to the Championship.

Since arriving on the south coast, Devine has now played four times and has even been able to provide two assists in the second tier.

Wednesday’s performance against Coventry may have been his best yet, though. Coming up against one of the sides pushing for promotion, Devine was able to put in an impressive shift:

• 9/13 ground duels won
• 2 tackles

The 19-year-old was handed his Tottenham debut by Jose Mourinho at the age of 16 in their FA Cup game against Marine back in 2021.

So it will be interesting to see what this summer brings for Devine if he is able to keep up this positive form for the Championship outfit.

Perhaps another loan at a top end Championship club could be on the cards as the path to the first team looks extremely challenging given the way the team is currently playing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
