Paul Scholes has shared his thoughts on Sam Allardyce taking over the reins at Tottenham until the end of the season.
Allardyce is known to be a specialist in relegation battles, and that is exactly the situation Spurs find themselves in.
After losing 4-1 to Arsenal, Tottenham are only four points clear of West Ham in 18th place, with Igor Tudor’s side currently 16th on the Premier League table.
How many points will Tottenham take from their next four Premier League matches?
Paul Scholes believes Sam Allardyce would have tightened the Tottenham defence
Scholes believes that out of all the managers available, Big Sam would have been ideal for Spurs.
They were losing games and conceding goals aplenty under Thomas Frank, and the first thing he would have done was tighten the defence.
While Allardyce’s teams are not the best going forward and rely on transitions and long balls, they are hard to break through.
They maintain a low block, defenders defend with their bodies on the line and the priority is to prevent goals from being conceded rather than playing attacking and exciting football.

That is precisely why the former Manchester United midfielder wanted Big Sam to become the interim manager of Tottenham.
He said: “Do you know, I think the choice of manager they brought in, and I know it’s an interim, but he just doesn’t know the Premier League.
“I was walking in there, Sam Allardyce is there. I’m thinking that’s just got him written all over it.
“First thing he probably does, when he goes into a team, stop us getting beat. So stop us conceding chances.
“He probably wouldn’t care about the rest of it, about scoring goals, because there’s enough quality in that Tottenham team at some point to get you a goal, or whether it’s even a set piece, but make us solid to beat.”

Would YOU have taken him over Igor Tudor?
Tudor needs to show the Spurs players are buying into his philosophy
Tudor will have learnt a lot about the mentality of his players from the Arsenal game and he may need to tweak certain things to get the best out of them.
However, it is important that he asserts his dominance and ensures that discipline returns to the dressing room.
If the players fail to buy into his philosophy, the same thing will happen that happened when Thomas Frank was in charge.
Spurs fans will be hoping that there is a quick response and that they can watch their side return to winning ways against Fulham.
