‘Not ideal’… Alasdair Gold says Tottenham could be hit with yet another fixture change

Tottenham Hotspur could see yet another fixture change added to their remaining Premier League fixtures.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are still waiting to hear when their postponed game against Chelsea will be rearrange for.

It now seems they could be set to see another of their games thrown further back in the calendar.

Tottenham’s remaining fixtures

Going into the game on the weekend against Fulham, Spurs have 11 games remaining in their Premier League season.

However, they could now see their game against Manchester City – currently 20 April – pushed back if they progress in the FA Cup.

Pep Guardiola’s side take on Newcastle United in the quarter-finals this weekend with the semi-final dates scheduled for the weekend of 20 April.

Speaking on the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast, journalist Alasdair Gold said: “The last two fixtures it was kind of a bit of a gentler end to the season. Yeah, either Chelsea of [Manchester] City is clearly going to be thrown in between them. It is what it is. It’s not ideal.”

Champions League hopes

Looking at Spurs’ remaining fixtures, there is a run of games in April/May which would fear any set of fans.

In consecutive games, Spurs are scheduled to play City, Arsenal and then Liverpool; the three sides gunning for the title.

However, it seems if City are to beat Newcastle in the FA Cup, then there will be a break in those games.

But the issue then lies in Spurs having two games which will be needing to rearranged before the end of the season.

There has still been no date on when Tottenham will play Chelsea after the trip to Stamford Bridge was postponed due to their Carabao Cup final.

With all of this in mind, there is still a lot of football to be played out and a lot of twists could yet be in store.

So it is a huge boost that it looks like West Ham may have secured that fifth spot for England in next season’s Champions League.

Although Spurs can’t take their foot off the gas in the remaining months, it seems they may have the insurance of being able to finish fifth and still play elite European football.
