Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has admitted he was not close to becoming the Tottenham Hotspur manager last summer.
The Eagles travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday as they look to make it back-to-back league wins.
But they will be coming up against Ange Postecoglou’s side who have benefitted from a two-week break.
Oliver Glasner linked to Tottenham job
Daniel Levy made some huge changes at Hotspur Way over the summer with Harry Kane departing to Bayern Munich.
But it was the managerial appointment which was perhaps his biggest decision following the exit of Antonio Conte.
Postecoglou was handed the reins in north London, but one man to be linked with the role was the current Palace boss.
Speaking ahead of the game on Saturday, Glasner played down those reports. He said: “Last summer? No. I was on vacation.”
No regrets over Ange appointment
The 49-year-old was able to achieve some really impressive things at Eintracht Frankfurt including the Europa League in 2022.
However, Spurs can hold no regrets over the decision they decided on in appointing Postecoglou.
The Australian was recognised on Thursday night after being awarded the Manager of the Year at the London Football Awards.
Despite the big changes made at the club over the summer, Spurs look in as good of a position as they have been in years to achieve something special.
A top four finish in his first season would be a massive accomplishment by Postecoglou, but some crucial games await Spurs.
There is still a lot of work to be done, but the signs so far point towards a promising future.
