Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has now shared a message over Ange Postecoglou following Tuesday night.
The Dutchman played the full 90 minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Ange Postecoglou‘s left-back.
Missing Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies through injury has seen Tottenham experiment with options on the left side of defence.
However, Spurs were unable to take anything from their game against Manchester City on Tuesday which saw the Australian manager explode during and after the game.
A lot had been made about the fans’ wish to see their own side lose due to the implications the result would have on Arsenal’s title hopes.
And it is apparent that got the better of the 58-year-old in a seething post-match press conference.
On the back of this, Van de Ven has now issued a message to the manager ahead of next season.

What Micky van de Ven said about Ange Postecoglou
After Wednesday night’s results, Tottenham now just need one point to secure themselves a spot in the Europa League for next season.
Chelsea’s win over Brighton & Hove Albion has kept their fifth-place push alive as they face Bournemouth on the weekend.
The recent drop off in results has seen Spurs’ push for Champions League qualification fall short and allowed the likes of Chelsea to quickly catch up.
Thankfully, Spurs face Sheffield United on the final day but they will be well aware of the dangers they can provide them at Bramall Lane after the FA Cup defeat last year.
Speaking after the game on Tuesday night, Van de Ven told the Mirror that the players are still absolutely backing their manager despite their recent dip in form.
“Of course you are disappointed. Of course you want to play Champions League. Hopefully we can do some good stuff in Europa League next year and we can reach the Champions League next year,” he said.
“We are still positive. We are still trusting in what the gaffer wants. We want to win at Sheffield United and hopefully next year we can do some good things.”
Micky van de Ven showed he’s capable but won’t flourish at left-back
After weeks of issues down the left, Postecoglou finally gave Van de Ven the chance to play at left-back.
It was a solid display from the Dutchman but it was nothing spectacular – albeit coming up against arguably the best side in Europe.
Here is a summary of his display down the left.
- 90 minutes played
- 69 touches
- 2/4 ground duels won
- 2/4 aerial duels won
- 1 clearance
- 1 interception
- 1 tackle
- 0 crosses

The Dutchman’s display showed he is more than capable of playing at left-back but Spurs are not going to get the creative threat that Udogie provides.
Perhaps the biggest positive to come from it was Radu Dragusin‘s performance alongside Cristian Romero at centre-back.
