Alan Shearer has named Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison in his Premier League Team of the Week.

Richarlison continues to impress for Spurs and bagged an excellent brace at his former home Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

The 26-year-old has now netted nine goals in his last eight league games and has really stepped up in Heung-Min Son’s absence in recent weeks.

His second goal at Everton was the pick of the bunch on the day as he curled his effort into the top right-hand corner to beat former teammate Jordan Pickford.

And off the back of yet another promising display, Richarlison is the only Spurs player to feature in Alan Shearer’s Team of the Week after the weekend’s action.

Shearer lauds ‘magnificent’ Richarlison

The Newcastle legend named Richarlison as one of four attackers in his Premier League best XI of the weekend.

“After tucking away yet another close-range goal, he showed he can be clinical from further out too, with a magnificent finish outside the box,” Shearer said.

It’s no secret that Richarlison endured a difficult start to life at Spurs after netting just one Premier League goal last season.

He also struggled to make an impact earlier this term but has benefitted massively from undergoing groin surgery back in November.

Since returning to the starting XI back in early November, Richarlison has only failed to score in one league game.

The Brazil star has received his fair share of criticism since joining from Everton but he’s proving plenty of people wrong with his recent performances.

His improvements on the ball have also been evident, with the forward making great strides when it comes to his hold-up play.

Goals are the most important thing for a striker but we’ve also seen Richarlison put in selfless performances when it comes to his work-rate and pressing from the front.
