Tottenham Hotspur have already made three signings this summer, two of which have gone into the first-team squad right away.

Spurs signed England youth midfielder Archie Gray early on this summer and recently signed Three Lions forward Dominic Solanke too.

Tottenham have also secured the signature of Gangwon FC prodigy Yang Min-hyuk, but he won’t join up with Spurs until at least next year.

With just over two weeks left until the transfer window shuts, Spurs are likely to increase their activity in the market in a bid to make some late signings.

Now, a rumour has emerged claiming Tottenham have begun talks over a replacement for Emerson Royal.

Tottenham open talks over AS Monaco’s Vanderson

According to Portuguese and Brazilian football expert Bruno Andrade, Spurs have opened talks with AS Monaco over Vanderson.

The Ligue 1 club is expecting an offer of around €40million (£34million) for the defender, added Andrade.

Links between Tottenham and Vanderson go back a number of weeks. In June, UOL reported that Spurs had made him their priority replacement at right-back.

Indeed, Spurs had already made the first contacts behind the scenes to understand how to proceed in possible negotiations, claimed the report.

A number of Tottenham fans have now had their say on the increasing speculation between the Lilywhites and Vanderson.

What Tottenham fans have said about Tottenham talks over Vanderson

By and large, the consensus is that, while Vanderson is a good player, Spurs have bigger fish to fry in the last few weeks of the window.

What could Vanderson bring to Tottenham?

Vanderson is a 23-year-old Brazil international who can play across the whole right flank.

He has been at Monaco since January 2022, when he joined from Gremio in a deal reportedly worth around £9million.

Vanderson has made 84 competitive outings for the Ligue 1 side, registering six goals and nine assists. He has also won two caps for Brazil.

Football Talent Scout‘s Jacek Kulig profiled Vanderson in 2021, describing him as a “complete full-back” and likening him to Brazil icon Maicon.

Kulig listed pace, dribbling, tackling, athleticism, technique, ball control, work rate and stamina as Vanderson’s strengths.
