John Terry details the incident that made him hate Tottenham

Terry has been speaking to Flashscore about his career and football in the modern era, with talk coming towards why he hates Tottenham so much.

It would seem as though it all stretches back to when he joined Chelsea as a teenager and was forced to act as a ball boy, with Terry hating Spurs ever since.

He said: “”I hate Spurs. It’s real, honestly, it’s really clear. When I first joined the club, I remember being a ball boy when I was 14 15, and I was by the Spurs fans, and they were abusing me.

“I was a kid. They were abusing me, throwing stuff at me, and it was like wow I feel it. I really feel, and that just stayed with me and also really proud of the fact we, in our time, never lost a home game against Spurs, and that’s still to say now they hate me as much as I hate them. This is fine.”

John Terry’s record against Tottenham

Given Terry’s brilliant record against Tottenham, it’s perhaps no surprise he gets so much stick from the Spurs fan base.

As Terry explains, he never lost a single home game against Tottenham, and that is an astonishing record considering how long he played for.

Terry played 32 times against Tottenham during his time at Chelsea, leading the Blues to 17 wins and nine draws, with just six ending in defeat.

Furthermore, Terry scored three goals and claimed three assists during his playing days against Tottenham.

In terms of cards, he managed four yellows and two reds against Spurs and enjoyed a stunning time of things against the club he despises the most.

With Terry hating Spurs with all of his being, it will be no surprise that he’s keen for the club to drop into the Championship this season, and it’s up to the team to ensure that doesn’t become a reality.
