Tottenham have received a decision from Joao Palhinha over his future at the football club beyond the summer.
Palhinha was instrumental in helping Tottenham remain in the Premier League, with winning goals coming against Wolves and on the final day against Everton.
Palhinha was on loan with Tottenham from Bayern Munich, and Roberto De Zerbi was a huge fan of the Portuguese performer, seeking a desire to keep him.
👀Who should be the FIRST Tottenham player sold this summer?🤔
Now, with the season just over a week old, Palhinha has essentially decided on his next move and De Zerbi will be gutted.

Joao Palhinha agrees terms with Sporting CP
After missing out on the Portugal squad for the World Cup, it was always going to be imperative that he got his next move right.
With that in mind, it would appear that he’s now decided to walk away from Tottenham, with A Bola claiming that he’s agreed personal terms with Sporting CP.
Palhinha was in fine form for Tottenham across the 2025/26 campaign and he was given far more responsibility under De Zerbi.
It had been claimed that Palhinha was wanted in North London by De Zerbi and the head coach was hoping that Tottenham could strike a deal that would see him remain in the capital.
Instead, it looks as though he’s going to join Sporting, with the Portuguese giants now in direct contact with Bayern over his services.
Palhinha will definitely take some replacing by Tottenham as De Zerbi looks to complete the relevant signings to make the club a force again.

👀 Maddison? Porro? Comment below…
It appears as though Palhinha is keen to return to his homeland this summer, and perhaps that has made Tottenham powerless in the quest to keep him.
Nothing has been finalised just yet, but this does provide Spurs with their first setback of the summer transfer window, and the club will have to move on quickly.
