Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has admitted the size of the club does bring some difficulties.

The Australian was named the Manager of the Year at the London Football Awards earlier this week.

But he has insisted that it has not all been plain sailing since he arrived at Hotspur Way in the summer.

Postecoglou shares Spurs difficulties

Although he has not even completed a full season at the helm of the Lilywhites, Postecoglou has been recognised for his start to life in England.

However, he has insisted he has found some difficulties in landing at a club the size of the north Londoners.

Speaking to i news, Postecoglou has discussed the struggles he’s faced in implementing his values at a club of Tottenham’s size.

He said: “There are certain values I uphold really strongly, not just around football but the way you treat people and making sure you’re respectful of everyone you share that space with. I really wanted to make it an environment where people walked in and felt part of what we were doing.

“It’s not easy because it’s a big organisation to get along to every person in the building, but hopefully that’s what I try and make everyone feel like they are important because they are. And by doing that, others notice that and hopefully that’s reciprocated around the place.”

Champions League hopes

Going into the season, not many people would have placed Tottenham in the race for the Champions League.

In fact, none of BBC Sport’s football experts placed Spurs in their top four predictions for the season.

It was a huge summer for Daniel Levy who had to find the right manager to replace Antonio Conte and deal with the exit of Harry Kane.

Yet Tottenham are still well in the race to clinch a spot in the top four with a massive game against Aston Villa coming up.

A lot can still happen, but landing a spot even in the Europa League may surpass the expectations put on Spurs this season by many.

And the success can largely be put down to the changes Postecoglou has brought both on and off the pitch at the club.
