Ange Postecoglou has admitted the injuries he’s experienced this season at Tottenham Hotspur may be his fault.

The Lilywhites are still in the mix to land a spot in next season’s Champions League, but injuries have been an issue.

It is only Ange Postecoglou’s first season in north London and he has had a lot to deal with both on and off the pitch.

Postecoglou’s injury admission

This season has provided Tottenham with a serious number of injury issues to deal with to some of their key players.

James Maddison and Micky van de Ven were both forced to miss long periods due to their respective issues.

And injuries still continue to riddle the squad with some big names currently sidelined due to fresh problems.

Speaking on Friday at Hotspur Way ahead of the game against Crystal Palace, Postecoglou admitted he’s seen this before at previous clubs: “It’s something you look at from an overall perspective. There’s no doubt that also the change in the training regime has an impact as well. It’s not the first time I’ve experienced it. It’s happened before to me when I’ve come into clubs that the first year there’s always a little bit of an uptick in injuries,” he said.

“We’ve had unusual ones this year. We lost Perisic and Solomon with knee injuries in training at the beginning of the year, which was a bit random. You’d like to think that’s not always going to happen, but a lot of the injuries are just the way we train and the way we play and players, sports science staff, medical team understanding that and making adjustments.”

Tottenham injury news

Going into the game against the Eagles on Saturday, there has been mixed news coming out of north London on the injury front.

Destiny Udogie has been revealed as a potential return to the matchday squad having suffered an issue which kept him out against Wolves.

However, the news was not so positive on Pedro Porro with Postecoglou claiming he will likely need another week to recover.

And there has even been a major blow with Richarlison who could be missing for a month having picked up his own issue over the last two weeks.

It really does seem like when Spurs get one player back from injury, another is then struck down with a problem.
