Tottenham Hotspur’s season may have had its ups and downs but there’s no doubt that they can well and truly blow opponents away on their day.
This was the case on Sunday, when Spurs delivered another statement to the Premier League with a 4-1 rout of high-flying Aston Villa.
Last season, the Villans pipped Tottenham to a top-four place, and Ange Postecoglou’s charges showed how eager they are to take that spot this time round.
Villa opened the scoring through Morgan Rogers and led 1-0 at the break, but Spurs bounced back with second-half goals from Brennan Johnson, Dominic Solanke and James Maddison.
Premier League legend Mark Schwarzer gave his verdict on Tottenham’s season so far and shared what he’s heard about Postecoglou that “seems crazy”.

Mark Schwarzer says amount of Ange Postecoglou criticism ‘seems crazy’
Schwarzer, speaking to Optus Sport, admitted he was confused by the sheer amount of criticism that the Spurs boss has been receiving.
“It seems crazy that he’s actually getting the stick that he’s getting,” Schwarzer said.
“They’re top goal scorers in the league currently, and they’ve won nine of their last 11 matches in all competitions.”
Schwarzer then acknowledged that the opponents and the manner of the losses are the problem.
“So they’ve lost those two, obviously nine wins, two losses. I suppose it’s the losses and the way in which they lost them and to whom they lost them is the problem.”
Who have Tottenham lost to in the past 11 games?
Spurs lost 3-2 away at Brighton & Hove Albion on 6 October after leading 2-0 at half-time.
Then, on 27 October, the Lilywhites fell to a 1-0 defeat at Crystal Palace, who remain just above the bottom three.
It’s not going to be plain sailing all the time but, for the most part, it’s clear that Spurs are heading in the right direction.
