Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has been hailed by Brighton & Hove Albion youngster James Beadle.

The Italian shotstopper is only in his first season as Hugo Lloris’ successor and yet the 27-year-old looks like he’s been there for years.

And it is apparent the £17m goalkeeper is catching the eyes of those around the league after recent praise directed his way.

Vicario praised by Brighton player

Guglielmo Vicario made the move to England in the summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £17m as Lloris’ time at the club faded to a conclusion.

Having quickly established himself under Ange Postecoglou, he has earned a lot of praise for his performances at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The latest to come his way is from young Brighton goalkeeper James Beadle who has been discussing what goalkeepers he watched to improve his game.

Speaking to BBC reporter Rob Staton, the 19-year-old goalkeeper said: ‘More recently, probably [Thibaut] Courtois I’m a big fan of. Obviously, at the moment, Alisson’s the one. I’m a big fan of Vicario at the moment at Spurs, he’s doing really well. Yeah, I watch a lot of goalkeepers.’

Number one for years to come

The transfer business done since Postecoglou’s arrival has been extremely promising with the likes of James Maddison and Micky van de Ven adding a lot of talent to the starting XI.

What is just as promising is the club’s decision making when it comes to the players who have been brought in.

It was reported in the summer the Lilywhites decided to go with Vicario having also scouted David Raya as a potential option.

Since making the move to the other side of north London, Raya has come under some serious criticism for the errors he has made as an Arsenal player.

Not many will have likely been in favour of signing Vicario over the Premier League experienced Raya.

However, it is a move which has certainly proved to be the correct one and provides a lot of faith in the transfer decisions going forward.
