Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has been hailed as the Premier League’s most underrated midfielder by James Ward-Prowse.
The Uruguayan midfielder has had a difficult 12 months having picked up a serious ACL injury which required surgery last season.
And upon his return, the midfielder sustained an injury setback having been on the end of a late challenge from Aston Villa’s Matty Cash.

Ward-Prowse rates Bentancur
Although Bentancur has only been able to feature 10 times in the Premier League this season, it is apparent his class is showing.
Injuries have meant the 26-year-old has only been able to make six league starts under Ange Postecoglou this term.
However, West Ham United midfielder James Ward-Prowse has casted his approval of the Uruguayan’s game in a recent interview with Sky Sports.
When asked who he thinks the league’s most underrated midfielder is, the England international said: ‘He’s not featured as much, but when I’ve seen him I really like him, Bentancur.’
‘Yeah I think from the times I’ve watched him I think, first of all, the thing that stands out is just his energy, the way he can get about. He’s quite infectious with how he plays. He can pick up the ball and drive. He makes good decisions and I think he just looks good on the eye.’

Bentancur on road to recovery
Although Bentancur has now made his return to the squad, it is apparent the midfielder is not quite the player he was before the injuries just yet.
He had to play during AFCON with both Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma away representing their countries.
But the 26-year-old has since admitted that he has found it extremely difficult to return to the levels he set for himself before the injuries.
That is to be expected given he has played so few games over the last year.
This is a player who has impressed massively since making the move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and he has still shown signs of getting back to what fans have come to expect.
He lit up the stage at Old Trafford by scoring the final goal of the evening which secured Spurs a point.
Patience will be needed in waiting for the midfielder to return to his best, but it’s apparent he is still impressing those around the league.
