Tottenham Hotspur will hope to go into the November international break on a winning note when they host Ipswich Town this weekend.

Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs welcome Kieran McKenna’s Blues in Sunday’s 2pm Premier League kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham’s season continues to be full of ups and downs, having beaten Aston Villa 4-1 in their last league game but losing 3-2 at Galatasaray in the Europa League in midweek.

Meanwhile, Ipswich have struggled to get to grips with life in the Premier League, and are yet to get a win on board in the top flight.

Every match-week, there are three pundits who routinely provide pre-match predictions, and they’ve now shared their thoughts on the Tottenham v Ipswich fixture.

The Spurs News looks at what Chris Sutton, Paul Merson and Alan Shearer have said, and who they think will win on the day.

Chris Sutton tips Tottenham for routine 3-1 win over Ipswich

Sutton, writing on BBC Sport, has backed Tottenham to run out 3-1 winners over Ipswich.

“I make no apologies for being a fan of Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou and his style of expansive football,” he wrote. “At times it is crazy, with the risks they take, but I love watching it.

“My Canaries connection means no-one is going to ever mistake me for an Ipswich fan, so this may shock a few people, but I felt sorry for them last week.

“They have briefly come out of Norwich’s shadow to reach the Premier League and are desperate for their first win of the season, but they were on the wrong end of a couple of shocking late decisions in their draw with Leicester.

“They have the advantage of not having European football this week – they have not had to worry about that for more than 20 years – while Tottenham play Galatasaray in Turkey on Thursday.

“I still think Spurs will win, though, and Ipswich will be back in the Championship with Norwich next season.”

Paul Merson also predicts Tottenham to run out 3-1 winners over Ipswich

Merson, like Sutton, believes Spurs will run out 3-1 winners over the Premier League newcomers.

“I expect Tottenham to win this game quite comfortably,” he wrote on Sportskeeda. “I don’t know how Ipswich are going to survive.

“They dominated the game against Leicester last weekend but ended up shooting themselves in the foot and conceded a late equaliser. That’s a big problem for them.

“When you look at Spurs’ fixtures so far this season, you’d have expected them to be higher up the table.

“They got a good win over Aston Villa and have managed to win four out of their last five games across competitions.

“Spurs are certainly on the right track. But let’s not forget that they are also the team that drew with Leicester and lost to Crystal Palace.

“You don’t know what you’re going to get from them… but still, I expect Tottenham to get the better of Ipswich.”

Alan Shearer thinks Tottenham will see off Ipswich

Shearer, writing on Metro, did not provide a score-line, but he also thinks Spurs should be able to win this one easily.

“Ipswich haven’t convinced me yet and I think they’ll find it really tough at Tottenham this weekend, with Spurs winning two huge games at home last week,” he said.

“If they manage to maintain some consistency, Ange and Spurs will have a fantastic season.

“I’d expect Tottenham to score a goal or two here with the number of chances they create, and Ipswich don’t look like they will be able to keep them at bay.

“Kalvin Phillips is suspended too, so another home win.”
