How Tottenham could lineup vs Bournemouth with Ange Postecoglou set to hand Spurs star his first Premier League start

Tottenham Hotspur travel to the South Coast on Thursday still carrying several key injuries and looking to bounce back from their draw with Fulham.

Ange Postecoglou’s squad has been plagued by injuries over recent weeks and against the Cottagers, Spurs were without five regular starters. The North London club were missing Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Rodrigo Bentancur and Dominic Solanke on the weekend, with Mikey Moore, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert also sidelined.

That situation hasn’t really improved either with only Solanke close to making returning. Tottenham’s injuries could even force the Australian coach into fielding a player who hasn’t played in over two years.

Will Dominic Solanke return against Bournemouth?

Ange Postecoglou revealed in his press conference that Dominic Solanke remains a doubt to return against his former club. The striker was due to return to training on Wednesday afternoon, although he still wasn’t fully recovered.

Postecoglou told the media: “Dom’s due to train today, he’s still not 100 percent but he’s definitely improved from the weekend. The other injured guys are inching closer but still not available.”

Heung-min Son’s poor performance filling in for Solanke may force the Australian coach to risk the England international for the clash. The Lilywhites looked toothless in attack against Fulham as they created an xG of just 0.78.

Meanwhile, Vicario, Romero, Van de Ven, Bentancur, Solanke, Moore, Richarlison and Odobert all remain sidelined for the trip to the South Coast. No Vicario, Romero and Van de Ven leaves Spurs’ potential backline looking pretty subpar.

Postecoglou is expected to rotate his full-backs for the trip to the Vitality Stadium with Djed Spence making his Premier League start. Meanwhile, Sergio Reguilon could make his first competitive appearance for the club since April 2022. Pedro Porro is likely to drop the bench, but Destiny Udogie should start at left-back.
