James Maddison is set to return to the King Power Stadium for the first time since he left for Tottenham Hotspur last summer.

Tottenham head to the Midlands for their first game of the new season and will be hoping James Maddison can fire them to glory against Leicester.

Maddison is looking to recapture his form from the start of last term having struggled to hit those heights during 2024.

Ange Postecoglou believes the midfielder has had a good pre-season and is ready to once again become the heartbeat of his Tottenham team.

Ahead of the game at the King Power, Leicester fans have taken to social media to share how they are feeling about the former Fox making his return.

Leicester fans preparing warm reception for James Maddison

Leicester supporters are preparing to give Maddison a warm reception ahead of his return to his old stomping ground with Tottenham.

Spurs’ number 10 enjoyed a successful period with the Foxes helping them to win the FA Cup and Community Shield, whilst recording 55 goals and 39 assists in 203 appearances.

Fans of the newly promoted club have taken to X to share their feelings towards the 27-year-old.

One Leicester fan said: “Cracking player, gave us some nice memories. Lost his way in his final season with us but so did everyone else. I’ll applaud him because I don’t begrudge any player trying to better himself. It’s a job not a vocation.”

A second adds: “Fine player for us during a mostly very successful period. I also loved watching him play, fully fit he was exceptional. I nearly always welcome former players back.”

There was yet more support for him, with another fan adding: “Great player for us during one of the most successful and enjoyable periods I’ve known in 35 years supporting Leicester.”

Whilst another fan stated: “Arguably our best player during a superb era. FA Cup, Europe, fans’ favourite throughout his time.

“Yes he was part of a relegated side (but so was Vardy), those who say he jumped ship… really? He was sold before June 30 for financial reasons. For me, clap.”

A decisive season for James Maddison at Tottenham

Maddison is heading into arguably the biggest season of his career so far.

At the age of 27, the England international is now a senior figure in this Spurs squad and he must show himself to be one of the team’s most influential figures.

His poor form this year saw him omitted from England’s Euro 2024 squad and he must use that as motivation to star for Spurs this campaign.

He now faces competition for his place in the line-up with Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall having been added this summer.

Maddison is expected to start against Leicester but will have the teenage duo ready to come on and take their opportunity if he is not up to scratch.
