Tottenham Hotspur captain Heung-min Son picked up a bizarre injury whilst he was away on international duty at the Asian Cup.

And the injury was sustained off the pitch during an altercation at the South Korean team hotel before their semi-final defeat to Jordan.

The incident saw an altercation break out which ended up in the Tottenham captain reportedly suffering a dislocated finger.

Heung-min Son suffers dislocated finger

According to the The Sun, the 31-year-old winger was involved in a furious off-field altercation during the Asian Cup which stemmed over a game of table tennis.

It is claimed Son was left seething with some of the younger teammates who wolfed their food down in a team meal in order to dart off and play a game.

The report suggests the Paris Saint-Germain star Lee Kang-in was one of the players involved as a row broke out when they were called back.

In an attempt to calm everyone down, it is then said Son’s finger was accidentally dislocated just hours before they were set to play their semi-final.

And it can even be seen in the photos from the games against Jordan and Brighton & Hove Albion on the weekend that two of his fingers were strapped together.

Back and already contributing

Son is now back in north London and he hit the ground running at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the weekend after providing the assist for the last-gasp winner.

Although he was not in from the start, Ange Postecoglou made the call to bring on the South Korean just after the hour mark and it proved a decisive move.

His Asian Cup may have ended in huge disappointment and a bizarre injury, but Son’s Premier League term has been nothing short of sensational.

The 31-year-old has been able to find the back of the net 12 times and has now provided six assists in the league alone.

Thankfully, it seems the off-field injury has not affected him too much and it will be interesting to see whether our captain returns to the starting XI for the game on Saturday against Wolves.
