Dominic Solanke netted his first goal for Tottenham Hotspur as they returned to winning ways with a 3-1 win over Brentford on Saturday.
The Bees looked set to cause Ange Postecoglou’s side plenty of issues as they took a 26-second lead through Bryan Mbeumo. But Spurs’ response was emphatic and for the remainder of the 90 minutes, it was one-way traffic towards the visitors’ goal.
Solanke bagged the equaliser before Brennan Johnson and James Maddison later wrapped up the three points by also getting on the scoresheet.
After the game, Tottenham’s captain Heung-min Son and Maddison both showed their delight at Solanke getting off the mark by sending him a message on Instagram.

Sonny and Maddison have backed Solanke to score many more goals for Tottenham this season as he netted his first goal for the club following his £65 million move from Bournemouth. The South Korean looked especially delighted for his new teammate in the celebrations.
Having failed to score in his first four matches, there had been some concern the 27-year-old may have to wait for his first goal.
But that was not the case as the striker bagged at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Son told Solanke on Instagram: “The first of many to come @Solanke!!” Meanwhile, Maddison added: “First of a helluva lot of goals for you [Solanke] this season my boy”.
He netted 19 goals in the league last season for Bournemouth which convinced the North London club to make a club-record bid to land him.
Solanke impresses Postecoglou vs Brentford
Solanke’s all-round game against Thomas Frank’s side was also very impressive as he combined well with the team’s other attackers. He will now be hoping to kick on following his strike against Brentford.
Speaking in his press conference, Postecoglou was full of praise for the England forward’s display: “I think he’s been good in every game he’s played for us, and as you said, strikers love scoring goals and, yeah, a great moment for him to score his first goal for the club, particularly at home,” said Ange.
“But aside from that, again it was a really strong performance by him. I thought he led the line really well, important for us today as a link up there because we knew they’d go pretty aggressive on a man-to-man marking and he was going to have to hold the ball up for us and I thought he did that really well.”
