Michael Dawson has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies ‘doesn’t get the credit he deserves’.
Davies has proven to be an important part of Ange Postecoglou’s squad so far this term after stepping up in the absence of Micky van de Ven.
The 30-year-old started in every single Premier League game since the Dutchman picked up a hamstring injury in early November.

Unfortunately, he missed out on the trip to Old Trafford last time out after suffering the same fate as Van de Ven.
But the Welshman produced consistently solid performances as a makeshift centre-back and Michael Dawson feels the defender is underrated.
Dawson claims Davies deserves more credit at Tottenham
Dawson was joined by Brennan Johnson on the latest episode of Tottenham’s official podcast.
The former Spurs defender singled out Johnson’s compatriot, Davies, for praise after his performances in the first half of the campaign.
“Ben signed just as I left in 2014,” Dawson said. “Clubs need players like him, not just off of the pitch, but I don’t think he’s getting the credit he deserves on it by the way.
“He’s been absolutely magnificent. He’s come in for arguably one of the best centre-backs in the league, in Micky, but on the left side, he plays passes, he’s fantastic.”
Davies will have been at Spurs for 10 years come the summer and has mostly been viewed as a squad player under various managers.
But you’d have to agree with Dawson’s comments on the Welshman not being fully appreciated for the job he does at Spurs.

He’s a player who doesn’t kick up a fuss if he’s not in the side and when called upon, he usually delivers solid performances.
His displays at centre-back this season have taken many by surprise, particularly as he’s rarely played the role in a back four.
Davies stood up in Van de Ven’s absence and deserves credit for the job he’s done over the past couple of months.
With Postecoglou’s first-choice centre-back pairing back in action and the arrival of Radu Dragusin, it’s likely that Davies will fall down the pecking order once again.
Yet, he remains an integral part of this current Spurs side due to his experience and ability to play at left-back and in central defence.
