Guglielmo Vicario has revealed how long he played against Manchester City with a fractured ankle as the goalkeeper undergoes surgery.
Spurs sent shock waves around the Premier League as they produced one of the most stunning results of the season by defeating the English champions 4-0.
The North London club emphatically ended City’s 52-game unbeaten run at the Etihad Stadium as Tottenham once again got the better of Pep Guardiola’s side.
However, the Lilywhites have quickly been brought back down to earth following confirmation that Vicario has undergone surgery on his ankle.

Guglielmo Vicario has revealed on his Instagram account that he played for 60 minutes against Man City with a fractured ankle. The goalkeeper was forced to undergo surgery and no timeframe has yet been put on his recovery.
Vicario suffered the injury when he collided with Savinho after Pedro Porro tried to head the ball back to his goalkeeper giving him plenty to do. But despite carrying a bad injury, Vicario was superb and earned many top reviews from the media.
Now, Fraser Forster is set to be the man to replace the 28-year-old. Forster has produced some very questionable performances when called upon this term by Postecoglou. The 37-year-old looked all over the place against both Galatasaray and Coventry City, making Vicario’s injury even more damming.

Tottenham fans have taken to social media to hail their number one for managing to solider through such an important game with such a bad injury. The Italian international fully deserves all the praise he gets as he was sensational against City – even more so given he was playing through an injury.

“The fact his ankle was broken for 60 minutes might make his game at the Etihad the greatest goalkeeping performance of all time,” added another supporter.
Finally, one failed hailed him by saying; “60 minutes played on a broken ankle, no one will ever question your resilience, strength and desire.”
