Gary Neville has slammed the club putting up ‘To Dare Is To Do’ and ‘Together Always’ banners around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham Hotspur have had one of their worst seasons in recent memory after avoiding relegation by the skin of their teeth.
🗣️ What would your end of season message be for Johan Lange, Vinai Venkatesham and ENIC?
👀 What immediate changes need to be made…
The North London club must now use this as a lesson to know that they are not too big to go down, and during the summer transfer window, they cannot be so complacent.
But following a dismal season of poor performances on and off the pitch, Neville has questioned some of the messages the club’s ownership have been putting out when their actions say the opposite.
Gary Neville slams ENIC after Spurs avoid relegation
Gary Neville has warned ENIC that their actions speak much louder than words after Tottenham defeated Everton to retain their Premier League status.
Roberto De Zerbi pulled off a miracle by dragging Tottenham out of the bottom three of the Premier League table and into safety.
But next season, Spurs cannot afford to flirt with relegation once again following back-to-back 17th-place finishes.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: “‘All together always’, and you know something, you hear some of this leadership, don’t you, from time to time, which got spouted out in business and spouted out in football clubs where they have signs on walls.
“But the problem is that actions speak a lot louder than words. The actions on the pitch speak a lot louder than words. The ‘Dare Is To Do’. Do they dare to do these players? I don’t think so.
Who was your Man of the Match against Everton?
“Are they ‘always together’? No, I don’t think so. Is there a connection right the way through the club? No. We hear that the owners have been trying to sell this club for two or three, four years now, trying to get as high a price as possible.
“They’ve done a great job in certain ways with things that they’ve built in infrastructure terms, but they failed the fans on the pitch, which is the most important thing.
“You know, football is all about first-team performance at a football club, whether that’s the women’s team, the men’s team, you’ve got to win.”
Despite not having European football, Spurs will now need to go away and recruit well over the summer to make sure this never happens again.
