Gareth Bale hails Pedro Porro after Tottenham beat Dortmund
Gareth Bale was full of praise for Pedro Porro’s style of play, claiming the defender is ‘consistent’ and ‘always brave on the ball’.
The 26-year-old produced a well-rounded display against Dortmund, completing 11 defensive contributions, 90 touches and 44 passes.
Speaking about the defender on TNT Sports, Bale said: “I think Porro has been a consistent performer for a long time. I always find him very brave on the ball, trying to be positive and play forward. He takes risks, and those risks normally pay off.
“They have a great back line, it’s just the amount of injuries, you can use it as an excuse, but they have had a lot of injuries, which is possibly hampering a lot of results.
Who was your Tottenham Man of the Match after the win over Dortmund?
“They’ve got some massive players missing like Kulusevski, Maddison, Van de Ven missing tonight, you’ve got Sarr, Kudus is out as well, so they do have a lot of starters not playing.
“So they are down to the bare bones, and that’s why we build a squad to manage these times – it’s difficult, but they’ve got to keep fighting through.”
Owen Hargreaves was also impressed by Pedro Porro
Owen Hargreaves was also impressed by Porro’s performance against Dortmund and spoke about how dangerous his crossing can be.
“I thought he was terrific, he whipped some great balls from the right-hand side, obviously they had a bit of space down that side, which he utilised,” added Hargreaves.
“The thing about him is that he always plays the same, regardless of whether the team is playing well or not. He’s really positive, and he’s a great crosser of the ball; he put in some great passes.
“I thought him and Xavi Simons were the pick of the bunch, Solanke was great as well, but Porro is very consistent.”
