Former Tottenham Hotspur academy player Will Miller has revealed just what it was like to train alongside Dele Alli.

A lot has been made of Dele’s struggles on the pitch over recent years, but recent revelations have provided some light on his struggles off the pitch.

His best spell came under Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham and Miller has shared his thoughts on just how good the former England international really was.

How good was Dele Alli

During his time in north London, Dele showed himself to be one of the brightest young talents across Europe.

Over 269 appearances, the Englishman returned 67 goals and 61 assists across all competitions, but there were some concerns over his effort at Hotspur Way.

Jose Mourinho made no secret of this in the Amazon Prime documentary where he called him a ‘lazy guy’ in a meeting they had at the north London training facility.

However, speaking to Lilywhite Lab, Miller hailed Dele for what he was able to show during training: “And then Del was unreal. Just like magic, do you know what I mean? Absolute magic. And just played off the cuff in the way that he improvised with the ball that not many people could do.”

Tottenham set to miss out on £10m Dele money

Having left Spurs in 2022, Dele’s career has come to a real standstill with just 13 appearances under his belt on Merseyside with Everton.

This now means Daniel Levy is unlikely to see the £10m in add-on payments land at his door in north London.

But the moments of magic which Dele was able to produce in a Spurs shirt will surely just have the club wishing him the best for the future after a turbulent few years.

The money is unlikely to make a huge difference to the plans ahead of the summer transfer window, and perhaps Spurs were already expectant of the clause not being met.

Dele provided our club so much during his years at White Hart Lane and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, so lets hope whatever is next for him in his career can help him get back on track.
