One of Tottenham Hotspur’s former players has revealed that Ange Postecoglou was his favourite manager to work under despite playing under Pep Guardiola.

Postecoglou is coming under big pressure at Tottenham right now with his team struggling to find any sort of consistency with their performances. Spurs went from beating Man City 4-0 at the Etihad to being held to a lacklustre draw at home to Fulham.

However, one of his ex-players has backed him to turn it around and explained why he enjoyed playing under the Australian manager.

Joe Hart on Ange Postecoglou being his favourite manager

Joe Hart has revealed that Ange Postecoglou was his favourite manager to play under despite working with the likes of Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho, Fabio Capello and Roberto Mancini. The former Tottenham goalkeeper played for Postecoglou during his time at Celtic where the Australian manager signed him.

The former England international became the 59-year-old’s first-choice goalkeeper at Celtic Park where they won the league and cup double. Hart became a real fans’ favourite under Ange who he claims salvaged his career when he felt it was over.

Hart told Optus Sport: “I’ve had some top managers, but I really enjoyed playing under Ange. I really enjoyed what he brought to the game, what he asked me to do, his mentality and philosophy. I was at a different stage of life when I started working under him and we really got each other.

Speaking about why he loves the former Celtic boss so much, the 37-year-old claims that

“I was at a point at Tottenham where the new manager didn’t even deem me good enough for the bench. There was no real space for me in football which was fine, I’d have my fun. But then I was offered an opportunity to speak to Ange Postecoglou, who respectively I didn’t know who Ange was,” Hart added.

“But I was like can we have a conversation, feel each other out and from the moment I spoke to him, I loved everything about him. I loved his calmness, his understanding, what he believed in, and the research he’d done on me.”

Why Joe Hart is backing Ange Postecoglou to succeed at Tottenham

Hart is backing Postecoglou to succeed at Tottenham despite the team going through a rough patch. he has called for everyone at the North London club to start pulling in the same direction towards success.

The England veteran claims that when he was playing at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium there was a sense that whilst everyone wanted to win trophies, the whole club wasn’t pulling in the same direction. He claims that must change.

Hart said: “I hope so, it’s a lot easier said than done. I’ve been at that club, everything is set up, and it’s a top club with great intentions but when I was there it didn’t feel like everyone was pulling in the same direction. Everyone wanted success but they didn’t quite know how to do it.

“They need to give Ange some time, he’s got his team believing, I know his team believe in him. They need the fans on board. Everyone needs to be pointing in the right direction for that club to win a trophy. It’s not easy to win that first trophy. I felt it at Manchester City. But all the tools are there, they just need to put it together.”
