Tottenham star Eric Dier has enjoyed an impressive start to life at Bayern Munich, having gone unbeaten in every game he has featured in.

The 30-year-old made the move to Bavaria on loan in the January transfer window, following an uphill battle to break back into the team at Spurs under new boss Ange Postecoglou. Dier has spent almost ten-years with the Lilywhites, making 364 appearances across all competitions.

This campaign, the defender has been out of favour in north London though, with just four appearances under Postecoglou and only one of those being a start. With just a few months remaining on his contract, an exit in January made sense for all parties.

That’s where the shock move to Bayern Munich came in as the Bundesliga outfit looking to strengthen in midfield and defence. There were twists and turns in the saga, including a tussle over Radu Dragusin that Spurs eventually won, but the move for Dier eventually went through.

It was confirmed as a loan deal, but one that could be made permanent when the England international becomes a free agent in the summer. It’s a move that saw the defender reunite with Harry Kane after he left Tottenham to join Bayern in the summer.

Eric Dier Bayern Munich stats

Many will be wondering how well Eric Dier has adjusted to playing German football with Bayern Munich. It’s early days, but it seems as though the defender has enjoyed the start to life with the Bavarian outfit when he’s played.

The 30-year-old has played three games for Bayern, with all three ending in a victory, keeping a 100% win record so far. Those came in a 1-0 victory over Union Berlin, a tense 3-2 win over Augsburg and a 3-1 triumph against Borussia Monchengladbach.

The serial Bundesliga winners currently sit second in the table, just two points behind Bayer Leverkusen. Dier’s unbeaten record will be put to the test next time out as a head-to-head clash between the two title contenders is on the cards.

What has Thomas Tuchel said about Eric Dier?

Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has been full of praise for Eric Dier, especially following his debut for the club. As quoted by Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, he said: “As expected. You feel his presence. He can handle it. Playing a half was surprising for him. He lacks rhythm, but it was good.”

Eric Dier’s future at Tottenham

The question will remain over whether Eric Dier may have a future at Tottenham after his loan spell with Bayern Munich. While things could change, it currently seems unlikely that he will return to the club and sign a contract extension.

Dier was clearly out of favour under Postecoglou, with the manager opting for other defensive options, even when struggling with injuries at the back. So in all, it appears as though his future may lie at elsewhere.
