After losing in the first leg in Rome, Bayern had it all to do at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night against Lazio.

But it proved a comfortable 3-0 victory for the Germans with the two former Spurs men featuring from the start.

Dier made his return to the Champions League and played the full 90 minutes as Kane netted two at the other end.

Speaking after the game, the 30-year-old admitted he is relishing the fresh start away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. “The way everyone, the fans, the club, the players have received me has helped me a lot. It’s made it very easy for me to settle in and obviously I’m just enjoying it some something new. A fresh thought it was obviously something that I needed individually and and I’m really enjoying it,” he said.

Speaking about Kane’s impact at Bayern, Dier added: “I’m so happy for him tonight to get his goals. He is the most reliable goalscorer in the world so anyone would be happy to play with him and being a friend it’s even nicer! It makes it easier for me to settle in.”

Postecoglou snubbed Dier

After his arrival in the summer, it quickly became apparent Dier would not be in the thinking of Ange Postecoglou.

Over the course of the first half of the season, Dier was only able to rack up a mere 198 minutes in the Premier League.

Since landing in Germany, the 30-year-old has already featured for 588 minutes across all competitions.

Even in his press conferences, Postecoglou did not hold the typical tight lips of a manager when discussing Dier’s future.

When asked if he could afford to offload Dier in January, Postecoglou simply responded: “Yes”.

There is no doubt Dier was a fantastic servant for the club having racked up an impressive 365 appearances for the club.

He may not be able to compete with the likes of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, but he did offer a lot during Mauricio Pochettino’s time at Spurs.
