Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison was involved in a heated argument with former manager Antonio Conte last season.

Under Ange Postecoglou, harmony among the players has felt as good as ever with the results to be seen on the pitch.

However, Emerson Royal has now shared details of a fiery team meeting which saw Richarlison call out the former Spurs boss.

Richarlison’s argument with Antonio Conte

The Brazilian has now had a full season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and is finally looking like the player Spurs thought they were signing.

But last season was undoubtedly a difficult one for Richarlison as he scored just once in his 27 league appearances.

Only nine starts came in the league under Conte for the 26-year-old, and it was apparent he wasn’t impressed.

Speaking on the Desimpedidos YouTube channel, Emerson Royal said:

“He arrived late at the meeting on the day of the game, and the guy [Conte] said ‘do you have something to say to the team? Do you want to apologise to the team?’,” remembered Emerson while laughing. “He asked the other guys who had arrived late too, the guys said ‘no, just sorry’, then I don’t know what got into [Richarlison].

“He was supposed to apologise to the group and to [Conte], right? Then he said ‘ah, I think I need more minutes [of game time]’. I think he understood it that the guy asked if he had anything, something to talk about, then he started saying that the formation we played in was (swears). He said a couple of things.”

Richarlison’s Tottenham future

After his surgery earlier in the term, Richarlison has looked like a player reborn.

He has already provided ten league goals this season and nine of those have came in his last ten league games.

However, there may still be some question marks around his future in north London.

The Spurs News has been told Tottenham would consider selling Richarlison in the summer if they were to receive an offer of £60m+.

He has certainly impressed since returning from his injury earlier in the season.

But he is now sitting on the sidelines having picked up another issue which kept him out of the Crystal Palace clash.

He has already suggested that he could return for the weekend’s game against Aston Villa.

If he can return and hit the ground running again in front of goal, it may cement his spot up top for Spurs ahead of next season.
