Eden Hazard reveals he was in talks about joining Tottenham back in the day.

In grand fashion, the Belgian announced on Twitter that he had chosen to join Chelsea, with Manchester United being the other club hot on his heels at the time.

However, the then Lille attacker has made a revelation about a potential move to North London as well.

Eden Hazard confirms Tottenham made contact to sign him

Hazard has revealed that Spurs were among the clubs that made a move to secure his services.

Redknapp was in charge of the Lilywhites back then, who did make contact with the Belgian over a potential move.

The winger was thriving in Lille, and it was evident that he wanted a move to the Premier League and appeared destined for the top flight.

However, talks with Tottenham and the other clubs did not seem to materialise, and he ended up joining Chelsea.

Speaking to RMC Sport, Hazard said: “No, never Arsenal. No. Never Arsenal. When I left, I had contact with Tottenham, Harry Redknapp at the time.

“I go to see a City match, Mancini is there. I had Ferguson, and even Chelsea, that came later.

“Liverpool, same thing (as Arsenal), never had any contact.”

What is in store for Tottenham in the coming weeks?

Hazard could have gone down as one of the best players in Spurs’ history had he joined, but that issue is a thing of the past.

Currently, Tottenham find themselves in dire straits, potentially being a Championship club next season.

For years, many have believed that they are too big to go down, but that is no longer the case, as they are just four points clear of safety.

Changing managers does not seem to have helped so far, as Igor Tudor has lost both his games in charge.

Tottenham now take on Crystal Palace on Thursday night, and that is a game that Tudor needs to win in order to assert some kind of respect among the fans.

So far, the supporters are struggling to see any improvement from the Thomas Frank regime.

After Palace, Spurs face daunting fixtures against Liverpool and two against Atletico Madrid, before two must-win games against Nottingham Forest and Sunderland in the league.
