Dougie Freedman is a name linked with the Tottenham sporting director job, and the former Crystal Palace man’s track record of unearthing new talent is phenomenal.

The Telegraph reports that the North London club have made checks on the 51-year-old, who left Selhurst Park to join Diriyah Club in 2025.

The sporting director was responsible for assembling the Palace team that went on to win the FA Cup and the Community Shield last summer.

Ahead of his potential return to the Premier League, The Spurs News looks at Freedman’s best signings at Palace that prove he could find them the next Dele Alli.

Eberechi Eze

Tottenham Hotspur fans will be sick of Eberechi Eze’s name, having scored five goals in two games against them this season, but for years, the Arsenal attacker looked destined to join them.

Spurs have been eyeing Eze since his time at Queens Park Rangers; however, it was Palace and Freedman who paid £17 million to bring him across London.

The North London club will be forever left rueing their decision not to sign him many years ago, and he’s certainly made them pay this season.

Michael Olise

Michael Olise was another player the sporting director helped the Eagles sign for cheap, as they paid his £8 million release clause at Reading.

Just like Eze, several clubs had looked at the Frenchman, but it was Freedman who convinced Palace to pay the money to sign him.

Back in 2024, the winger was sold to Bayern Munich, and now he is considered to be one of the best attackers in Europe.

Adam Wharton

Once again, Spurs failed to act on their interest in an EFL talent, and this time it was Adam Wharton, whom Palace signed for just £22 million.

The former Blackburn Rovers star looks destined to start for England at the 2026 World Cup and make a move to a major club.

The 22-year-old has almost quadrupled in value since his move to Selhurst and was undoubtedly one of Freedman’s best additions.

Marc Guehi

Finally, Marc Guehi was another elite signing Freedman made, and one who has gone on to play for Manchester City.

Following a very successful spell at Swansea, on loan from Chelsea, Palace paid the money to bring him across London.

The defender went on to lift the FA Cup for the Eagles last season, having turned down a move to Spurs during the January window prior.
