Dejan Kulusevski shares why the Tottenham coaches have been ‘screaming’ at him in training

Tottenham Hotspur winger Dejan Kulusevski has admitted coaches normally scream at him to improve on one thing.

It has been a steady if not unspectacular campaign for the Swede in north London under Ange Postecoglou.

And it seems the Australian and his staff are trying to help the 23-year-old improve in one key aspect of his game.

Dejan Kulusevski needs to improve one thing

So far this season, Dejan Kulusevski has been able to feature 26 times in the Premier League and 25 of those have come from the starting XI.

In those games, the winger has returned six goals and three assists, but has scored just once since the middle of December.

Although he is still young, there is clearly a lot of room for improvement before Postecoglou is able to see the best of the Swede.

Speaking on the club’s YouTube channel, he admitted he often has the coaches screaming at him to improve his positioning for incoming crosses.

Breaking down his headed goal against Manchester City, he said: “As a winger, when you are on the opposite wing, you have to attack the box. That is something I have to improve a lot. Because as a player, you always score close to the goal, so you have to come in and always be close to the goal.

“So here I was hearing all the coaches screaming at me to attack to box. But also, I remember that they were always screaming at me. They were screaming live, but also in my head they were screaming.”

Heung-min Son left frustrated by Dejan Kulusevski

Give the high levels he set for himself in the first half of a season in north London, it is apparent this is not the best version of Kulusevski.

Spurs were able to put down a real marker in the race for the Champions League spots two weeks ago with an emphatic win against Aston Villa.

The Swede was even able to provide Heung-min Son with an assist for his goal on the afternoon.

But it was apparent the 23-year-old’s struggles to find his best form left Son frustrated as Kulusevski pondered on the ball.

Journalist Rob Guest noted a moment where Kulusevski failed to make the correct decision and pass to Son and instead sent his shot blazing over; which left Son furious.

He said: “There was another opportunity where [Kulusevski] I think he had Johnson and Son either side of him, but went for the shot himself. It went over and Son wasn’t impressed at all. That was a bit of an angry reaction from him.”

Spurs fans have seen some impressive displays from Kulusevski, but it seems he is in somewhat of a dip in form currently.

He has recently spoken about some of his struggles and even wrote a letter to the Spurs fans.

But it does seem he is very much a confidence player and once he hits a run of form, that is when Spurs see the best out of Kulusevski.
