The international break has brought a halt to proceedings in the Premier League, which means Tottenham Hotspur will look to regroup after their topsy-turvy start to the season.

Spurs certainly showed that they have what it takes to make an impact in the top-flight this term – when everything clicks together, that is.

For the most part, Tottenham’s displays were such that they could’ve well ended up with seven or even nine points from their opening three games.

However, Ange Postecoglou’s charges have had to make do with four points and a lot of soul-searching about potentially tweaking tactics.

Spurs should’ve beaten Leicester, but could only draw, and they looked like they could’ve got at least a point at Newcastle, but they lost.

TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent has shared where he thinks Tottenham will finish this season – and for the most part, he’s not too pessimistic about Spurs’ chances.

Darren Bent hails Dominic Solanke and Wilson Odobert as he backs Tottenham for fifth place

The former Tottenham forward, speaking on talkSPORT (3/9/2024, 5:38pm), reckons Spurs will finish fifth in the table.

He also singled Dominic Solanke and Wilson Odobert out for praise, saying he likes both players.

“Five – Spurs,” Bent said on the radio station. “They look quite decent.

“”Dominic Solanke, I really like him. I know he has got the injury, but I think he is decent.

“I really like Odobert as well. He is young, but I like him as well. I have gone Spurs five.”

Bent backed Chelsea to beat Tottenham to fourth place, and he reckons Manchester City will win the title a fifth year in a row.

Tottenham will hope to make mockery of predictions

It’s all well and good making predictions before the season or even three games in, but the truth is, it’s way too early in the campaign for them to hold any meaning.

In the past, some teams that have impressed before the international break have gone on to flop, while clubs that struggled in August kicked on in the following months.

Postecoglou certainly has some work to do to iron out the prominent flaws that have beset his team this year, but things seem to be heading in the right direction for the most part.
