Dejan Kulusevski has revealed the conversation he had with one of Tottenham Hotspur’s key players that came to fruition in the win over Manchester City.
Spurs sent shock waves around the Premier League as they produced one of the most stunning results of the season by defeating the English champions 4-0.
The North London club emphatically ended City’s 52-game unbeaten run at the Etihad Stadium as Ange Postecoglou’s team once again got the better of Pep Guardiola.
Kulusevski once again ran the show at the Etihad as he produced a sixth goal contribution in his fourth appearance away at City and he has revealed the chat that helped make it happen.

Dejan Kulusevski has revealed that James Maddison told him to make the exact play that saw the two combine for Tottenham’s first goal. The England international made a run from deep to get on the end of an incredible cross from the Swede to hand Spurs the lead at the Etihad.
There has been talk over recent weeks that Maddison and Kulusevski can’t play in the same team, however, the duo certainly dispelled that myth against the champions. Both players combined brilliantly for the opening game and it was a move they had discussed prior to the game.
Kulusevski said to SPURSPLAY: “Maddison told me just before the game to look for me when cutting inside. Crazy but exactly that happened.”
James Maddison gives big credit to Kulusevski
Maddison looked reinvigorated in the win as he added a second goal later in the first half and ended up taking the Man of the Match award. The 28-year-old has also spoken about the discussion the pair had before the match.
“I actually said to Kulu before the game, because obviously he hasn’t played on the wing as much lately, but being left-footed on the right wing with his ability when he cuts in I can make that run from that left half-space, that left pocket area from midfield,” Maddison told SPURSPLAY.
“Because I’m running from deep it’s hard for the backline to pick me up. I’ve done it a few times this season from passes from [Cristian] Romero and deeper when I make that run in from behind but I haven’t actually scored. I have been getting chances from it so I knew one was going to come soon. It was a brilliant ball, I didn’t even have to break stride, so credit to Kulu.”
