Tottenham Hotspur face Brentford in their next Premier League outing as they look to bounce back from two successive defeats.

Spurs have made their worst start to a Premier League campaign in nine years having taken just four points from their first four matches.

The Lilywhites were beaten 1-0 by Arsenal on the weekend with Gabriel Magalhaes’ header in the second half proving decisive in the North London derby.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have also dropped points against Leicester and Newcastle and cannot afford to lose any more ground when they host Brentford.

Yoane Wissa to miss clash with Tottenham

Thomas Frank has ruled out Yoane Wissa for Brentford’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on September 21. The forward suffered a nasty ankle injury against Manchester City as the Bees lost at the Etihad.

The 28-year-old continued his impressive goal-scoring run against the champions as he netted his third goal of the season. However, the Congolese is now set to miss the next couple of months with an injury.

Speaking in his press conference on September 17, Frank said: “Wissa is, unfortunately, not good news: it looks like an injury that will be a couple of months. It’s very frustrating. We talked about our many injuries last year, I hope I don’t have to talk too much about it this year, I maybe already have.

“We were unlucky with Igor [Thiago], unlucky with [Aaron] Hickey; we’ve then had two contact injuries with Mathias Jensen and Yoane Wissa, so that’s very frustrating.”

Tottenham hope to have Yves Bissouma back vs Brentford

Tottenham have injury concerns of their own. Yves Bissouma missed the North London derby with a foot injury he picked up whilst on international duty with Mali.

However, Postecoglou has revealed that the midfielder is expected to return against Brentford. “No, Biss is still not where we want him to be [to face Coventry in the EFL Cup]. Hopefully still a chance for the weekend,” said the Spurs boss.

The 28-year-old had just been hitting top form having scored three goals in his first four matches for club and country.
