Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Djed Spence has signed a new contract at the club.
The Spurs defender has committed his future to the Lilywhites until the summer of 2028.
News of Spence’s new contract marks an incredible turnaround for the 24-year-old, whose future at Tottenham looked uncertain.
Spence initially struggled to make an impact at Spurs since joining from Middlesbrough back in 2022.
Prior to this season, he made just six appearances for Spurs and has been shipped out on loan three times while on the Lilywhites’ books.
However, Spence worked hard in pre-season and forced his way into Ange Postecoglou’s plans.
And even though he didn’t make the cut in Tottenham’s Europa League squad, the Spurs boss stressed this was due to their difficult ‘club-trained’ player situation.
Needless to say, Tottenham fans are happy to see Spence offered – and signing – a new contract at N17.
What Tottenham fans said on social media about new Djed Spence contract
Spence’s initial contract ran until 2027, so it’s not even as though he was close to being out of contract.
This new deal confirms that Postecoglou has Spence firmly in his plans, which is amazing to see.
At just 24 years of age, Spence is nowhere near his prime, and it’ll be exciting to see how he continues to develop at Tottenham.
